Michael is a recipient of GOLFTEC's Outstanding Achievement in Instruction Award from 2016 - 2019. In his career at GOLFTEC he has taught over 15,000 lessons to players of all skill levels. Michael is the former coach of Rose Zhang, who was the #1 ranked women's amateur golfer in the world for a record 141 weeks and won her first professional start on the LPGA Tour. Additionally, Michael has received the certification of Master Club Fitter from Callaway Golf.

John has competed and won in various tournaments dating back from junior golf into Division 1 collegiate golf at Prairie View A&M University. During his time at Prairie View A&M University, he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Management and also led the Men's Golf Team to its first two conference titles in 45 years. John wants to use his belief and passion for the game to not only elevate someone's golf game, but to also make the game enjoyable.

Born and raised in Houston he grew up around the game thanks to his Granddad (Ben Smith who played on the Senior tour for over 20 yrs) and his father who caddied on tour for golf greats Gay Brewer and Miller Barber as well as his grandfather. Has played competitive golf from age 8 and continues to do so. Enjoys working with students of all ages and skill levels from the beginner just starting out to the scratch golfer looking to play in competitive golf.
